FTE Salary: up to £38,718.00 (Salary is dependent on qualification and experience)

Actual Salary: up to £23,544.73
Contract Type: Permanent, Part-Time
Working Hours: 22.5 hours per week (0.6 contract)

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

We are looking for a passionate teacher who has expertise in delivering Functional Skills and GCSE Maths resit.  

The successful candidate will join Academic department with like-minded professionals who care deeply about the students Numerical and Mathematical development.   

The ideal candidate should be willing to be part of the college’s committed drive to offer a mastery curriculum, promoting adaptive teaching with a focus on improving students’ Mathematical resilience.   

To support the successful member of staff, there is a highly effective college CPD programme (including regular external subject specific training) in place that promotes mastery approaches to delivering functional skills and GCSE resit, the development of digital skills as well as teaching and learning and assessment; in addition to this, candidates are encouraged to undertake additional external CPD funded by the college. 

Some other key responsibilities include the following: 

  • To support students in achieving their goals and qualifications in an agreed range of settings. 
  • To work collaboratively with teaching staff and other services to support learner progress and achievement  
  • To use the restorative approach when working with learners. 
  • To promote equality and diversity. 
  • To work closely with the Cross-College Maths Team, Learning Area Manager, and Tutors to identify ongoing support needs of our identified learners in the college environment. 
  • Attend team meetings, curriculum meetings, tutorials and review meetings where appropriate. 
  • Complete and submit compulsory documentation in a timely manner. 
  • To update systems and effectively contribute to student logs about academic progress and particular needs. 
  • To be a positive role model for all staff and students. 

The post requires experience working with learners in an educational setting (or equivalent) to meet academic and pastoral needs. The postholder should be willing to undertake CPD (Continued Professional Development) to upskill their knowledge and ascertain suitable strategies for support.
