Covid Update

On Tuesday 29 March, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid, set out the next steps for living with COVID-19 in England from Friday 1 April.

Updated guidance advises:

  • Adults with the symptoms of a respiratory infection, and who have a high temperature or feel unwell, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until they feel well enough to resume normal activities and no longer have a high temperature.
  • Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can return to college when they no longer have a high temperature, and are well enough to attend.
  • Adults with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious. For children and young people aged 18 and under, the advice is 3 days.

For education and childcare settings from Friday 1 April:

  • Regular asymptomatic testing is no longer recommended in any education or childcare setting, including in SEND, alternative provision and children’s social care settings. Therefore, we will no longer be able to order test kits .

Summary

Take your Spanish language skills to the next level with our Pre-Intermediate Spanish course. This course is designed for students who have already gained some experience with Spanish, either by completing our Beginners Spanish 15-week course or by having spent time in a Spanish-speaking country and acquiring basic conversational skills. Throughout the course, you will delve into various practical topics essential for everyday communication. You'll learn how to book a hotel, check-in, make requests, and find your way around a hotel room. Additionally, you'll develop the ability to ask about public transportation, purchase tickets, and inquire about travel details. The course will also cover shopping-related vocabulary, including asking about opening hours, choosing clothing items, requesting different sizes and colours, and discussing discounts and exchanges. You'll also learn how to navigate medical situations, such as making a doctor's appointment, describing symptoms, following medical instructions, and visiting a pharmacy to understand medication instructions. Lastly, you'll explore weather-related vocabulary, including identifying different weather conditions, understanding seasons, and interpreting weather forecasts from various sources.

How will I learn?

Our Pre-Intermediate Spanish course is conducted face-to-face at our Stroud Campus. This allows for interactive and engaging learning experiences, including group discussions, role-playing scenarios, and practical exercises. To support your learning, all students are required to purchase the BBC Talk Spanish book 1, which includes accompanying CDs. Entry Requirements

To enrol in the Pre-Intermediate Spanish course, it is recommended that you have completed our Beginners Spanish 15-week course or have some experience speaking basic Spanish, gained either through previous language courses or by spending time in a Spanish-speaking country. This course is designed to build upon your existing knowledge and enhance your conversational skills in a range of practical contexts. Note: This course has a £120 non-refundable enrolment fee to all learners.
