Covid Update

On Tuesday 29 March, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid, set out the next steps for living with COVID-19 in England from Friday 1 April.

Updated guidance advises:

  • Adults with the symptoms of a respiratory infection, and who have a high temperature or feel unwell, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until they feel well enough to resume normal activities and no longer have a high temperature.
  • Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can return to college when they no longer have a high temperature, and are well enough to attend.
  • Adults with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious. For children and young people aged 18 and under, the advice is 3 days.

For education and childcare settings from Friday 1 April:

  • Regular asymptomatic testing is no longer recommended in any education or childcare setting, including in SEND, alternative provision and children’s social care settings. Therefore, we will no longer be able to order test kits .

Summary

Whether you missed the opportunity to obtain GCSE English Language during your school years or aim to improve your grade, this course offers an exciting opportunity to gain this essential qualification. By acquiring GCSE English, you’ll meet the requirements sought by employers, opening the doors for career development and pursue further education.

How will I learn?

Our comprehensive course covers all the essential skills needed to secure a GCSE English Language qualification. Through focused lessons, we will develop your reading and writing abilities, ensuring you are well-prepared to achieve a grade 4 or higher. No previous qualifications are required to join the GCSE English course. Admission is based on the outcome of your initial assessment, rather than your prior qualifications. To get started, simply express your interest in the course, and you’ll be invited to attend an initial Advice, Guidance, and Assessment session. During this session, one of our English Team members will discuss your assessment results with you, providing feedback and information about the course most suitable for your needs. If you don’t meet the proficiency level required for the fast-track, one-year GCSE course, don’t worry. We offer a progression course that focuses on building skills through an English Functional Skills qualification. Lessons for both courses are between 2.5 to 3 hours long, once a week, and are available during daytime or evening sessions.

Entry Requirements

When you enquire about the course, you will be invited to attend an initial Advice, Guidance and Assessment session. Following this, you will have a discussion with one of the English Team, who will provide feedback on your assessment and information on the course you will be offered.
