Join our 10 week online embroidery class and discover the world of thread and needle magic. From foundational stitches to intricate designs, you'll learn to create beautiful, handcrafted pieces while developing your embroidery skills. With expert guidance and a supportive community of fellow enthusiasts, you'll be stitching your way to creativity and craftsmanship in no time. You will have the opportunity to explore: · A thorough grounding of basic stitches, as well as some experimental stitches - and the ability to continue unaided. ·Skills to develop your own original designs and stitches. · Swatch design. · Awareness of colour and pattern. · Creative tips to expand your creative universe. How will I learn?

Our classes provide a nurturing and encouraging environment where you can learn and grow as an individual. The tutor will guide you through various techniques and projects, ensuring that you feel supported and empowered to express your creativity. Teaching will be delivered through a series of online workshops (via Microsoft Teams) and You will learn by observing demonstrations, group discussions, and by exploring new techniques with expert support. You will learn a great deal by experimenting and recording your own progress. Your tutor will always check your progress and help you with technical solutions.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must be at least 19 years of age at the start of the academic year, to attend this course. You will also need access to a computer and the internet is required to participate in the online workshops. You don’t need to have any experience to join this course, however as part of our series of funded courses, you are limited to one course per term (excluding online, this can be an additional), students need to meet the criteria as set out below. The aim of the course is to improve your well-being, confidence, self-esteem, and creative and vocational skills whilst providing progression routes for your learning through support and guidance from your tutor. These courses are for self-referring or referred patient/client, making the courses available to all. If you're experiencing conditions like stress, anxiety, depression, behaviour-related health issues, mental health, bereavement, chronic pain, or illness, joining us can provide a beneficial experience and a re-engagement into education or employment. If you have a support worker or have a condition we will need to be aware of, please let us know – there may be other specialised creative courses that are more suited to your needs from other health providers. During your first session the tutor will spend some time with you 1:1 to support you with your declared needs to ensure we give you the best support and guidance during the course.

Additional Information

You may be eligible for a full fee waiver for this course if your household income is below the following thresholds:

• England: £20,319 (based on ESFA guidelines)
• Bristol area: £23,400 (based on WECA guidelines)

If you receive Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), or Universal Credit (UC), you may also be eligible. The income cap for Universal Credit is:

• Single claimant: £617 per month
• Joint claimants: £988 per month

You may be eligible for co-funding for this course, meaning you only pay £40.00 if you meet any of the following criteria and your household income is below £27,000:

• Receiving Carer’s Allowance
• Receiving Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
• Receiving State Pension
• Receiving Attendance Allowance
• Providing evidence of a food bank voucher
