Summary

This course prepares you for a role as a Software Development Technician, found across all sectors from large multinationals and government projects to small consultancy firms. You will understand client requirements and build and test high-quality code solutions. This entry-level position supports the development of applications for specific tasks or underlying systems that run devices and networks. You may assist in projects like transport ticketing systems, customer-facing websites, and bespoke asset management systems. Working as part of a software development team, you will build and test simple software components under supervision. Daily interactions include developers, designers, engineers, and project managers, focusing on implementing and testing code to meet functionality requirements. This role is primarily office-based, with some field research and testing. You'll be involved in the full software development lifecycle, contributing to research, development, and continuous improvement, working both independently and as part of a team.

Maths & English

This apprenticeship requires learners to achieve maths and English at Level 2. At interview, we will carry out an assessment to determine current literacy and numeracy levels. We will take account of any support needs in determining the suitability of learners for this apprenticeship.

Course fees explained

The course fee can usually be broken down to three components which are Materials (resources required to study the course, for example stationery, books and other equipment), Tuition (teaching, classroom etc) and Exams. Depending on age, financial circumstances and a number of other factors you could be asked to pay the full fee or just elements of it.
