Covid Update

On Tuesday 29 March, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid, set out the next steps for living with COVID-19 in England from Friday 1 April.

Updated guidance advises:

  • Adults with the symptoms of a respiratory infection, and who have a high temperature or feel unwell, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until they feel well enough to resume normal activities and no longer have a high temperature.
  • Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can return to college when they no longer have a high temperature, and are well enough to attend.
  • Adults with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious. For children and young people aged 18 and under, the advice is 3 days.

For education and childcare settings from Friday 1 April:

  • Regular asymptomatic testing is no longer recommended in any education or childcare setting, including in SEND, alternative provision and children’s social care settings. Therefore, we will no longer be able to order test kits .

Summary

Reflexology is currently one of the most popular complementary therapies available in a wide range of settings including holistic therapy centres, GP practices, hospices, care homes, salons and spas offering a variety or career opportunities.

This is a fully accredited substantial vocational qualification that will prepare you for a career as a Reflexologist and includes the following units:

  • Anatomy, physiology and pathologies
  • Provide Reflexology
  • The principles and practices of complementary therapies
  • Business practice for complementary therapies

You will be required to purchase a uniform and small kit before the course begins in addition to any tuition fees payable.

How will I learn?

This is a classroom-based qualification delivered by our highly qualified and very experienced Reflexologist. You will be required to undertake considerable independent study and skills practice to support your learning in the classroom.

This course is based at our Filton campus, located in South Gloucestershire which is easily accessible from the city of Bristol by train (Bristol Parkway / Bristol Abbey Wood) and bus.

You will need to commit to approximately 6 hours per week of independent study to complete assignment work and to complete a considerable number of case studies to develop your practical skills and understanding of the relationship between reflex points and their effects on the body.

You will be expected to receive and give treatments on peers to develop your skills before working on paying clients for summative assessments to maximise your employability skills.

You will continually be assessed throughout the course using a variety of methods including:

  • Written Assignments
  • Exams
  • Oral questioning
  • Case study completion
  • Practical assessments
  • Portfolio of evidence
  • Reflective practice

Previous work

Entry Requirements

You will need to be an Adult aged 19 or over and ideally have a 3-x grade 3 (D) GCSEs including English Language or be able to demonstrate that you are able to work the required level 3 standard.

Previous knowledge of Human biology is ideal or a keen interest in the subject. You will need to have a mature, professional and focused approach to learning with good interpersonal skills.
Acceptance on the course will be subject to attendance at an adult information/interview day with the tutor.
