Join tailor Laura Griffin for a weeklong masterclass in all types of tailored pockets. What better way to finish your tailored garment than with one or more handmade pockets. Pockets are an essential part of a tailored garment, their historic use continues into the modern day, giving unique detail and style. By developing the skills to craft different types, you will leave confident in your ability to apply this knowledge to your garments at home. Laura will guide you through a chest pocket, internal pocket, and types of trouser pockets. You will cover welts, jets and side seam pockets. Depending on the pace of the class, Laura aims to show you as many variations as possible. However can be assured that the sessions will be kept as a low pressure learning environment. Our small group setting ensures ample one-on-one support, allowing you to receive personalised attention and guidance.
How will I learn?
Through hands on lessons and creative demonstrations in sessions. You will be supported by the tutor in creating your own ideas and provided tasks to follow and adapt.
Entry Requirements
This course caters for individuals who have some prior sewing experience and who are eager to expand their expertise. Plus a passion for the subject and learning!

Course fees explained
The course fee is usually broken down into three components which are materials (resources required to study the course, for example stationery, books and other equipment), tuition (teaching, classroom etc) and exams. Depending on age, financial circumstances and a number of other factors, you could be asked to pay the full fee or just elements of it. Usually Learners under 19 studying Full-Time courses have just material fees, and if relevant, Academy fees, to pay. Over 19s on Full-Time or Part-Time courses usually have materials, exams and tuition fees to pay.

All Part-Time courses are available to enrol online via a quick and easy online enrolment form. Simply click the 'Enrol' button above to add your enrolment to the course basket, then click the 'Start application' button within the basket commence your enrolment.
If you have any issues applying online we also accept paper enrolments. You can download and print our 2023/2024 Enrolment Request Form.
