Summary
Learn the basics of floristry with a creative approach & sustainable sensibilities. Suitable for complete beginners, hobbyists & those with previous floral experience. This course will equip you with the fundamentals of floristry including care, handling & conditioning of flowers, elements of design and how to use them, colour theory, curating a floral palette & materials to help style your arrangements & compositions, even learning how best to photograph your designs. Using (foam free) techniques & mechanics from spiralling hand ties to larger scale installations. Including bouquet work, wiring, wedding installations, tablescapes, editorial designs, dried floral work and more. You will be set briefs to help bloom your creativity and push your design concepts. Going home with a varied portfolio of work as a showcase of your new skills. This course has a huge emphasis on finding your own floral style, harnessing inspiration and looking to the seasons to create work that pushes the standard take on floristry. Students will need to provide their own flowers/foliage for each lesson (as advised by the tutor) This is an additional cost, and is not included in the course fees, so students may wish to consider this before enrolling on the course.
How will I learn?
Through a combination of practical tasks, theoretical learning, and research projects, you'll immerse yourself in the world of floristry. With guidance from our experienced tutor, you'll gain hands-on experience and knowledge similar to that of the floral industry. From spiralling hand ties to large-scale installations, you'll explore a range of techniques and applications, including bouquet work, wiring, wedding installations, and editorial designs. In addition, you'll have access to a wide selection of resources, such as books and magazines, to explore historical and contemporary influences in floristry.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must be at least 19 years of age at the start of the academic year. This course is suitable for beginners and those with previous experience. All we ask is that you have a passion for floristry and a desire to unlock your creative potential. Join us on this floral journey and embark on a path of artistic expression and personal growth.
Additional Information
Students will need to bring their own flowers/foliage to each lesson, and the types required will be advised by the tutor in advance of each lesson. All other materials are supplied by the college (wire etc)

Course fees explained
The course fee is usually broken down into three components which are materials (resources required to study the course, for example stationery, books and other equipment), tuition (teaching, classroom etc) and exams. Depending on age, financial circumstances and a number of other factors, you could be asked to pay the full fee or just elements of it. Usually Learners under 19 studying Full-Time courses have just material fees, and if relevant, Academy fees, to pay. Over 19s on Full-Time or Part-Time courses usually have materials, exams and tuition fees to pay.
