Summary

Embark on a journey of creativity as you delve into the world of textiles. On this course, you'll have the opportunity to experiment and play with textiles, discovering innovative techniques and exploring the boundless possibilities of repurposing and reusing materials. Unleash your imagination and breathe new life into discarded textiles as you create a captivating collection of samples. These samples will serve as the foundation for a larger textile art piece, inspired by your own unique idea, theme, or image. Let your creativity run wild as you uncover the hidden beauty in everyday materials and turn them into stunning works of art. This course welcomes participants of all skill levels, from beginners with a passion for textiles to experienced artists looking to expand their repertoire. No prior knowledge or specific materials are required, as the focus is on creativity, experimentation, and resourcefulness. Come with an open mind and a willingness to explore the possibilities of textiles as a medium for artistic expression. How will I learn?

Through a combination of hands-on experimentation and expert guidance, you'll embark on a creative journey that encourages exploration and discovery. Learn various techniques and methods of repurposing textiles, guided by experienced instructors who will provide demonstrations and one-on- one support

Entry Requirements

You don’t need to have any art experience to join this course, however as part of our series of funded courses, you are limited to one course per term (excluding online, this can be an additional), students need to meet the criteria as set out below. The aim of the course is to improve your well-being, confidence, self-esteem, and creative and vocational skills whilst providing progression routes for your learning through support and guidance from your tutor. These courses are also available for self-referring or referred patient/client, making the courses accessible to all. If you're experiencing conditions like stress, anxiety, depression, behaviour-related health issues, mental health, bereavement, chronic pain, or illness, joining us can provide a beneficial experience and a re-engagement into education or employment. If you have a support worker or have a condition we will need to be aware of, please let us know – there may be other specialised creative courses that are more suited to your needs from other health providers. During your first session the tutor will spend some time with you 1:1 to support you with your declared needs to ensure we give you the best support and guidance during the course.

Additional Information

Enrolments for future course dates will be released towards the end of the current term, on the website and via your course tutor. Each term runs for 10 weeks with a shorter course in the summer term. These courses are employability skills funded which means to be fully funded you have to meet a certain criteria. We are able to offer a co funded tiered system for those who don’t meet the criteria. Fully funded: low income below £23,400, JSA,ESA, UC cap: joint claim £988, sole claim £617 £50: carers allowance, PIP, state pensions, Attendance allowance, Income under 27k, evidence of food bank vouchers, UC cap: joint £1188, sole £817 £60: income 27 – 30k £75: income over 30k

Over 19s on Full-Time or Part-Time courses usually have materials, exams and tuition fees to pay.
