Access to Higher Education (HE) Diploma pathways are especially designed for adults who have had a break from studying but are now planning to enter higher education. The Access to Higher Education Diploma provides subject knowledge and helps to develop your confidence and study skills, whilst also opening up new career possibilities.
If you aspire to attend university but havent yet met the formal entry requirements, embarking on an Access to Higher Education course could be the beginning of your academic journey. These one-year Level 3 courses delve into a broad subject area. Upon completion, students gain the foundation to move into a more specialized degree program within that field at University. Our Access to Higher Education courses are available in a range of different pathways to suit your progression needs.
Further information on our various Access courses on offer and the application process are available on this page.
Access courses are designed for Mature students (19+) seeking to return to education and individuals exploring a career change or a new professional path.
The Advanced Learner Loan covers the full course cost. Notably, Access to HE is a unique course where the student loan doesnt require repayment, provided the learner successfully completes their undergraduate studies.
We are delighted to introduce 3 new fully online Access to HE courses: Health Science Professions, Nursing, and Midwifery. These 1-year courses will equip you with all the academic and study skills necessary to progress onto university degrees such as all types of nursing, midwifery, paramedic science, and many other health care careers.
You will study modules in Biology, Health, Psychology and Sociology, with bespoke, relevant units for your chosen pathway. Being fully remote, these courses allow you the flexibility to learn in your own time, working independently at your own pace, but with regular access to a designated tutor for continual advice and guidance, and with access to all SGS facilities on site such as library resources, wellbeing support and learning support if needed. All assignments are completed from home and submitted via our new online learning platform.
If you want to achieve a qualification for entry to university, but cannot currently commit to a regular timetable, or live at a distance from college, then this is the course for you!
