The team aim to:

  • Provide specialist support for students who have a specific learning difficulty e.g. dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism (ASD).
  • Target provision to assist students with numeracy and literacy requirements.
  • Arrange curriculum and communication support for students with sensory impairments.
  • Provide access to assistive IT equipment.
  • Make special examination arrangements.
  • Support tutors in adapting learning materials.
  • Provide support for short-term injuries.
  • Provide support to students with mobility and/or personal care needs.
  • Provide additional in-class and specialist support.

In order to access support, we need to speak to you, carry out an assessment of your needs and check eligibility if required.

If you have a specific learning difficulty or disability which may present you with barriers to your learning, you should discuss this with us before you start your course.

Do you have an EHCP?

SGS College wishes to ensure that it complies with The Equality Act 2010. If you are a person with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP), please ensure that we know what you need before you start at college so that we can make all reasonable adjustments to help you succeed. You will need to request the Local Authority issue a consult to the college before we can consider your application.

If you do not have an EHCP, but consider yourself to have a physical or learning disability that may be a barrier to succeeding at college, please contact us for more information.
