SGS College is committed to celebrating the success of its learners, many of whom have thrived after completing the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools course.

With a new course about to begin on 6th November 2024 at our Stroud campus, this established programme offers aspiring teaching assistants the essential skills and practical experience needed to effectively support teachers and students in a school environment.

Many learners, like Tricia Page, have found the course transformative. After working as an unqualified SEN Teaching Assistant for five years, Tricia embraced the programme as a way to enhance her skills and build her confidence. She reflected:

"The course not only provided me with essential training in areas like behaviour management and safeguarding but also greatly boosted my self-confidence. I even developed a phonics intervention project that led to measurable student progress. The experience has been life-changing, and I would encourage others to take the same step."

The course requires learners to secure a placement in a primary or secondary school for a minimum of six hours per week, which can be paid or voluntary. This hands-on experience helps learners apply their knowledge and build confidence in real-world settings.

SGS College is committed to making this opportunity accessible. The course is fully funded for eligible learners over 19 who earn less than £25,000 per year or are receiving benefits. For those who do not meet the criteria, a heavily subsidised fee ensures that financial barriers are minimised.

The programme equips learners with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to support teachers and students, laying a solid foundation for a fulfilling career in education. So now is the perfect time to invest in your future.
