Make-up artistry students support Strictly Star

Past and present make-up artistry students from SGS College recently teamed up to support Gloucestershire’s Strictly Star.

The special event saw people take to the dance floor at the Everyman Theatre on September 20 to vie for the Strictly crown and raise money for National Star College.

The SGS students took responsibility for the make-up of each dancer to the specific requirements for their stage performance. The team had to work quickly to complete the make-up for the 25 stars going on stage. To make matters even more challenging their work had to be completed twice – once for rehearsals and again in the evening for the big show.

Organised by National Star and Jazzjiveswing, all money raised will go to supporting young people with complex disabilities. The charity has raised £28,000 so far and hopes to raise £50,000.

Student, Sophie Moore, from Cheltenham who is studying the Level 2 Diploma in Hair and Media makeup at SGS Stroud Campus comments: “It was great to be part of the event. Seeing how a show is organised and being exposed to the professional environment was great experience.”
