SGS College welcomes Nuclear Decommissioning Authority National Stakeholder Summit to Berkeley.

More than 200 people with a common interest in the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) and what they do, gathered together at the SGS Berkeley Campus last week to network and share experiences.

Senior voices presented from the NDA, as well as industry, government and those involved in delivering the NDA’s mission attended. Among them were: Tom Smith - NDA Chair, David Peattie - NDA CEO, Alex Chishom- BEIS Permanent Secretary, Kevin Hamblin – SGS College and Professor Jim Al-Khalili OBE - British scientist, author and broadcaster.

Participants took part in interactive sessions and workshops to learn from best practice, and to understand more about the issues affecting the NDA and the nuclear decommissioning sector.

Group Chief Executive at SGS College, Kevin Hamblin commented: "SGS are delighted to have taken part of the UK's decommissioned nuclear estate which was struggling to find future investment and turn it into a vibrant and thriving educational and business community. It is less than 10 months since we completed the works to create the SGS Berkeley campus, the first phase of new development at Gloucestershire Science and technology Park.  I am delighted how far we have come in such a short period of time. It is a privilege to welcome so many people from the nuclear industry and their local stakeholders to Berkeley, so we can showcase what can be achieved by education, business and the wider community working together to create a brighter future."
