'Inspirational' former SGS student win at National TV Awards

Emmerdale star and former SGS learner, James Moore, made an unforgettable entrance to the stage at the National Television Awards, Tuesday evening, as he picked up the prize for Best Newcomer.

“This means the world to me,” said James, who beat stiff competition from Coronation Street and EastEnders, for his portrayal of Charity Dingle’s son, Ryan Stocks.

James, who has cerebral palsy, studied Photography on the UAL Foundation Art & Design at SGS College’s Stroud Campus. As soon as James discovered he’d secured the role he paid a visit to his former teacher, John Stadnicki, to tell him the good news.

Speaking about James’s award win, John said:

“James was a former student of mine and always displayed rare perseverance and stamina.

“He never gave up on anything he set his mind to and was focussed and driven; an inspiration to all of us.

“I'm incredibly proud to have taught him and of his tremendous success in Emmerdale.

“Winning a National Television Award last night is a fantastic accolade and hugely deserved. Well done James from all of us at SGS College!'”
