Former SGS learner James Moore has landed a role in hit ITV programme Emmerdale, playing Charity Dingle’s son Ryan Stocks.

James made his debut on the show Tuesday 6 June. His arrival shocked character Charity Dingle, who believed, for almost three decades, her son had died at birth, but James’s stunning debut revealed that he had in fact survived.

James, who has cerebral palsy, studied Photography on the UAL Foundation Art & Design at SGS College’s Stroud Campus. James popped in to SGS to tell his former teacher, John Stadnicki, the good news. Speaking about his reaction, John said:

“James turned up at college to say hello and announced to me that he had just won a contract to play a character in Emmerdale. I thought he was joking at first but then he presented me with his contract. I was amazed! I am incredibly happy for him. James would never give up on anything he set his mind to and is an example to all of us.”

Before landing his role in Emmerdale James had a role in the film Spaghetti Legs, where he played the character of Jay. He’s also acted in Strawman by Rex Obano at the National Youth Theatre Epic Stages Showcase in 2017 and appeared in an adapted version of Romeo and Juliet by Kieran Mortell at a Playhouse Summer Showcase in 2017.
